Here at Deferit we always endeavour to pay your bill as quickly as possible. There are a number of ways we pay a bill depending on what payments the biller supports:
Online
If your bill can be paid online without requiring any sensitive information, we will strive to pay it this way first. This is the fastest manner in which to pay your bill as the biller will generally recognise it as paid immediately.
With an electronic bill payment service
We partner with the leading electronic bill payment service used by the majority of banks, financial institutions and payment processors to manage bill payments daily. Approximately 95% of industry service providers accept payments via this service. When Deferit uses this service to pay your bill we send the payment request across immediately. Each biller has their own internal processes as to how often they check and settle the transactions. Some billers do this quicker than others.
When will the payment arrive?
While the payment was made today, it may take 2-3 business days for your biller to reflect this payment in your account. In our experience, they generally recognise it as paid on the next available business day. Your biller may be able to use the trace number on your email payment confirmation to allocate your payment earlier, and you can call them to see if they are able to.
What if my payment is late?
We always want to make sure bills are paid quickly and correctly, so we make the payment request immediately. While we can’t control biller settlement times, your payment is always covered by our payment guarantee where we always have your back when your payment is late due to a processing error on our behalf.
By check
If your biller cannot be paid online or does not support our electronic bill payment service, we can pay your bill by sending a check.
When will the payment arrive?
Checks will usually take around 10 business days to be settled by the biller. In some rare circumstances it can take longer.
