Once a bill has been submitted to Deferit, our team begins processing it quickly to ensure on-time payment. Because of this, your ability to cancel or edit depends on the bill’s payment status.
If your bill has not been paid yet
You may be able to cancel or make changes if the payment hasn’t been processed. To request a cancellation or edit:
- Chat widget (website only): Open the Chat button in the bottom-right corner of our website and type your request, for example: “I need to cancel or edit a submitted bill.”
Include:
- Your bill ID or a clear description of the bill
- The change or cancellation you need
- Any updated bill file (if applicable)
Our AI agent will collect the details and, if needed, a Customer Hero will confirm directly whether changes are possible.
If your bill has already been paid
Once we’ve sent payment to your biller, it can’t be cancelled or modified through Deferit. If the bill needs to be refunded or adjusted, you’ll need to work directly with your biller. We’re happy to provide proof of payment to help with that process.
Editing a bill amount
If you need to pay an additional amount on your bill after it’s been processed, you can reupload the updated bill and choose Pay in 4, Bill Pay, or Bill Negotiation.
Bottom line
You can only cancel or edit a bill before we pay it. Contact us as soon as possible if you spot an error or need to make a change.
