Sometimes we need to adjust the amount we can pay toward a bill. This is normal and based on factors like the bill total, your available balance, and your repayment and payment movement history. As you keep using Deferit, make on-time repayments, and avoid moving payments too often, your eligible amount may increase over time.
Common reasons we adjust a bill amount
- Your available balance is lower than the bill total. We may part-pay or approve a lower amount based on your limit.
- You’re new to Deferit. New accounts typically start with smaller approved amounts that grow with on-time repayments and consistent usage.
- Bill details or status impact what we can pay. Missing info, overdue fees, or biller restrictions may reduce the payable amount.
- Your repayment and payment movement history. Frequent changes to scheduled payments—like moving them multiple times—can affect your limit, similar to missed or late repayments.
Pay Extra limits
- First-time users: Can pay up to $200 extra toward a bill.
- Existing users: Can pay up to $1,000 extra toward a bill (subject to account history and limits).
What are my options?
Option 1: Bill Pay
Pay the full bill amount upfront with your card through Deferit, and we’ll pay your biller — even if it requires a mailed check.
Option 2: Pay in 4
We pay the bill once your first installment is successfully charged — then you repay the rest over three more interest-free, fortnightly installments.
How to proceed
- Review the adjusted amount in the app or website.
- Select your preferred option (Bill Pay or Pay in 4).
- Submit and confirm your payment plan.
Tip: Paying on time, keeping your account in good standing, and minimizing changes to scheduled payments can help increase your limits over time.
