ID verification helps us meet regulatory requirements, safeguard your personal information, and keep our community safe from fraud. It also lets us offer more secure, personalized support.
At Deferit, some customers may be asked to complete an extra identity check during signup to confirm who you say you are and to protect the integrity of our platform.
If you are asked to do an IDV, here are the tips
Tips for a successful verification
- Use good, even lighting (avoid glare/shadows).
- Keep the entire ID in frame; don’t cover corners.
- Clean the camera lens and remove phone cases that might cast shadows.
- Turn off “portrait mode”; use the standard camera.
- Don’t upload screenshots or photocopies—use the original document.
- If your ID is expired or invalid, upload a current, valid ID.
Accepted ID documents
- Passport
- Driver’s license
- National ID
- Green card
Common issues & quick fixes
- Blurry or unreadable image — Retake the photo; hold your device steady and tap to focus.
- Glare or reflections — Move to indirect light, tilt the document slightly.
- Name mismatch — Make sure the name on your Deferit account matches your ID.
- Address mismatch — If we request address evidence, use a recent official document that matches your account details.
- Upload failed — Check your internet connection, close background apps, and try again (Wi-Fi often helps).
- File type/size problems — Use a standard photo (JPG/PNG) taken by your device’s camera.
